AWESOME ending to an amazing 3 week series on the Bible! I pray that our people get excited about the word of God because it is living, true, and powerful. I hope that is what we accomplished in this series, that others grew excitement for the word of God.

Music was off the chain today. I ALWAYS love playing “Rise and Sing”. It’s such a powerful, almost fight song. It makes you want to get off your butt and get out in the world singing and tell others about Jesus!

Jonathan Cole was back on bass guitar. We haven’t had him in since July and it was great to be able to play with him again.

So Matt Brundage gets the mad props of musicianship this week. We closed out the service with MercyMe’s “Word of God Speak”. I had plans to just play it on piano and have an electric padding out sounds underneath. Well I got a text from Matt during the week and he asked if he could play oboe during it too. And man, it was AWESOME! It added a slight Kenny G feel but MUCH cooler. Matt is such an amazing musician who has been a great addition to our team. He plays on a regular basis and whether it’s guitar, bass, or…oboe, he gives it all he has and you can truly see God in Him as he leads worship. He was one of my groomsmen in my wedding and has become such an amazing friend over the years. Thanks Matt for all that you do and giving the glory to God!

With the TXT series, we decided to ask a question at the beginning of the message and show the results of all the texts at the end of the message.

This Sunday, the question was “Why do you read the bible?” We asked everyone to text “time” if you just can’t find time in the day to read the Bible, text “confusing” if you find the Bible confusing and difficult to understand, or “boring” if you think the Bible is just some boring old book. Here were the results we received:

Melissa wasn’t feeling well and had to stay home. I really missed sitting beside her during the message. Pray for her as we’re now in the last week of her pregnancy. I can’t wait to meet our beautiful daughter.

Sunday was a perfect example that God can shine through us even when we’re not feeling up to par. Many of us in the band were dreadfully sick this past Sunday. I was running a fever, Andy was battling congestion, and others felt horrible too. But when we got on that stage to lead others into worship through music and speaking, I don’t think there was one person that noticed. Our prayer was that people wouldn’t see us but that they would see Christ shining through us. He gave us the strength to get through the morning and received all the glory.

Yesterday was my favorite opening to worship we’ve EVER done at The Well. We opened up with an awesome pad sound that Matt was playing and I read from Ephesians 2.
“Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

As I finished reading, I spoke about how we are free because Christ rose from the dead and we went into Fee’s “God is Alive.” It was an awesome and powerful moment and the people got loud! Amazing worship!

Andy showed a clip of “Fraiser” during his message. I love that show.

I went home and CRASHED! At one point my fever reached 102.3. After cold washcloths, popsicles, tylenol, and sleeping ALOT, my fever finally broke last night. Unfortunately, it’s back to 101 so please be praying for me as I get better. Fortunately, my beautiful wife has been taking care of my every need. I’m so lucky to have her.

With the TXT series, we decided to implement a texting element to the series. At the beginning of the message we asked a question and we will each Sunday for this series.

This Sunday, the question was “How often do you read the bible?” They could text daily, weekly, or never to 25827. Here were the responses we showed at the end of the service:

This is going to be an amazing series! Can’t wait to see our people get excited about reading their Bibles and learning about God.

AMAZING MORNING!

We played “I Run to You” by Lady Antebellum. I’m really starting to dig playing country music.

Shannon Karafanda was back with us speaking on forgiveness from the female perspective. You can listen to her message by clicking here.

I was asked to be an illustration for the message. Shannon had me come up and hold all this luggage at the same time and pour a glass of water at the same time…fun. She was showing visually that simple things are harder to do with excess baggage.

She knocked it out of the park with her message. It was also the shortest message in the history of the church. Which I am SURE people who were going out to celebrate Valentine’s Day appreciated.

Andy was out this Sunday to Lake Junaluska, North Carolina with our Quench Students on a ski retreat. They’ll be coming home today so pray for their safety driving through some icy roads.

I love the fact that with Andy gone (or for when I’m gone), church still goes on. The Well is not about me or Andy. It’s about GOD! And with or without us He is going to move in huge ways!

The students being on a ski retreat and Sunday being Valentine’s Day didn’t affect the crowd. The place was still packed out and people were hungry to hear from God.

School is out at Excel this week so we were able to stay setup. This is going to allow us to fine tune a few things we haven’t been able to do. For example, we just got approved to have another one of the classrooms for our permanent use so we’ll be able to go in and paint this week. We are also going to be playing around with the placement of the pipe and drape to try to fit more chairs in the room. We’re outgrowing the room! I love it!

The “He Said. She Said.” series has been really cool. I find myself sitting next to Melissa during the messages and nudging her and being nudged. HA! But it has for sure been challenging us to grow in our relationship together.

Andy’s message was spot on. He reminded us that this message was not anything new…it’s what we already know and have heard. But the difference between marriage and divorce is hearing and doing.

We played “Never Say Never” by The Fray and I played piano on it again and that was a lot of fun. We put the piano up on a riser and it was a cool and different look.

The band was super solid!

The tech team was super solid!

The Superbowl party was AWESOME! But more on that later…

Melissa is 5 weeks away from our due date of meeting our little princess. I think she may be late. You never know with these things, but her whole family has been late on due dates so that’s going to be my guess. Either way, I can’t wait to meet our beautiful little girl.

Melissa is 5 weeks away from our due date of meeting our little princess. I think she may be late. You never know with these things, but her whole family has been late on due dates so that’s going to be my guess. Either way, I can’t wait to meet our beautiful little girl.

Our last baby shower is tomorrow. Melissa’s mom is throwing it for family and people from our old church, Kennesaw First Baptist. We’ve got SOOO much baby stuff. It’s amazing being this blessed by so many people who care about you. We love you and thank you all.

Melissa’s dad didn’t want to be stuck at the house during a baby shower so he invited me to an Atlanta Thrashers game. I’m getting stoked about that. I haven’t been to one in over a year. That’s one sport that I really enjoy going to see live.

I’ve been replacing alot of my gear here lately. One HUGE project is that I sold alot of my pedals and bought the ones I’d actually use. I’m waiting on one pedal to get back from being repaired, but when it does I’ll post a blog about my new electric pedalboard. And maybe one about my existing acoustic pedalboard as well. Another thing I’ve ordered and should receive around the end of February are some Fidelity Custom mold triple driver in-ears. I’m really excited about these improving the sound of the band in my ears so I can focus more on leading people into worship than trying to hear the right things in my ears. (only a musician may understand that statement. it’s just that as a musician, you want to be able to hear things clearly and evenly in your ears. if you can’t, you’re distracted.)

We filed our taxes on Monday and should be getting our refund in a few weeks. I think we’ve decided to put some in savings and to spend some on the remaining items needed for our little baby girl. Again, I simply cannot wait to meet her!!!
